Hi Everyone!
Im here in Costa Rica and its currently 6am. I have been having a pretty good time and ISL (International Service Learning), the organization I went with, is taking pretty good care of us. Sunday, we had an intro to the program, and Monday, we went to clinic for the first time. Ive been doing pretty well, except on Monday, I threw up, which I think was primarily due to the Malaria medication Im taking.
It can be pretty difficult living with unbelievers and being under a secular organization that doesnt really support the Gospel. While the people here in Costa Rica and the village that we went to for clinic are definitely very poor, the first thing they need is the Gospel, not quality dental care. While there are some evidences of the Christian faith in Costa Rica, it seems to be more cultural than something people live by. In my first day in clinic, my God has grown my heart for these people and in general, for countries that dont have the resources that we do in America to know and worship Him. You can pray for me in the rest of my trip that my thoughts and actions would glorify Him and by Gods grace I would have the opportunities and wisdom to share the Gospel with my teammates and the people here in Costa Rica. It is pretty difficult when I am the only believer I know here.
